My name is Francisco Raul Ortega.

I was born in Chile to later reside in Concepcion, Chile until I was 14. Later, I came to the United States where I have lived in Miami,FL until August 3rd, 2018. I now live in Ft. Collins, Colorado and work for Colorado State University.
I’m married to the most beautiful woman in the world, Luz and the luckiest dad of baby Sofia. My direct family consist of my 3 sisters, their children and their husbands as well as my Mom and Dad. I have to give a special thanks to my dad Francisco and my mom Patricia as well as my sisters Marcela, Cecilia and Jimena and their husbands Roberto, Kenny and Eddie. As well as all of their children.
I successfully defended my Ph.D. Dissertation in the School of Computing and Information Sciences at Florida International University and graduated Fall 2014. I was a GAANN Fellow provided by The Department of Education. I also received my Bachelor in Computer Science (cum laude) and Master in Computer Science from the same institution. I received McKnight (supplemental) Dissertation Fellowship for 2013-2014, from the Florida Education Fund. This also included the last semester of my Ph.D., which was Fall 2014.
My reseach concentrates in Human-Computer Interaction and 3D User Interfaces. I was co-advised by Dr. Rishe and Dr. Barreto. My Committe was also made of Dr. Clarke, Dr. Raju, and Dr. Zeng. While not in my committee, but always helpful to my dissertation and research was Dr. Adjouadi
I also would like to mention collaboration and/or support that I have received from DSPLAB, HPRDC, CATE, SCIS, ECE, and CREST at Florida International University. Today, I collaborate with multiple researchers in CSU and FIU.
My Chinese name is 智龙 (zhì lóng) given to me by Dan (Daisy) Lu.
The friendship of Frank Hernandez, Xabriel Collaso, Jaime Ballestesto, Eddie Garcia, Aaron Lebos, and Tessa Verhoef has always helped me to do my work much better.
