As you can see by the URL of my site, my name is Francisco R. Ortega. I was born in San Fernando, Chile to later reside in Concepcion, Chile until I was 14. Later, I came to the United States where I have lived in Miami,FL ever since. I hold dual citizenship from my birth place (Chile) and my home (USA).
I’m married to the most beautiful woman in the world, Luz Adriana. My direct family consist of my 3 sisters, their children and their husbands as well as my Mom and Dad. I have to give a special thanks to my dad Francisco and my mom Patricia as well as my sisters Marcela, Cecilia and Jimena and their husbands Roberto, Kenny and Eddie. As well as all of their children.
Currently, I’m a Computer Science Ph.D. Candidate in the School of Computing and Information Sciences at Florida International University. I’m also a GAANN Fellow provided by The Department of Education and supervised by Dr. Milani. I also received my Bachelor in Computer Science (cum laude) and Master in Computer Science from the same institution.
My reseach concentrates in Human-Computer Interaction and 3D User Interfaces. My specific topic is about 3D Navigation using Multi-Touch Devices. I’m co-advised by Dr. Rishe and Dr. Barreto. My Committe is also made of Dr. Clarke, Dr. Raju, and Dr. Zeng. While not in my committee, but always helpful to my dissertation and research is Dr. Adjouadi
My Chinese name is 智龙 (zhì lóng) given to me by Dan (Daisy) Lu.
